Duties and Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:
 

  • Champion HSE and lab quality systems management and drive best practices
  • Develop and drive implementation of Lab quality and HSE system plans
  • Develop schedule and implement weekly Team Tool Box Meeting
  • Identify requirements and develop plan for acquisition of ISO17025 accreditation
  • Develop and implement an internal QA/QC system in all Shell operated labs
  • Facilitate timely maintenance and calibration of all testing/measuring equipment
  • Manage samples from assignment – analysis – reporting and disposal
  • Conduct specialised analysis and report accurate results in a timely manner
  • Review and interpret test results and provide technical solutions as required     
  • Monitor performance and make input to reporting in line with SLA requirements  
  • Routine update of control charts of testing and measuring equipment
  • Raise awareness and ensure compliance with waste management procedures
  • Develop and implement a QA/QC  process for all production chemicals in use
  • Facilitate the development/ review of work instructions and systems documents
  • Monitor and facilitate the close out of Fountain actions and others arising from all lab system audits
  • Update test procedures and work instructions in line with approved document change control procedure
  • Facilitate inter-laboratory bench marking and Round Robin Tests, report performance and champion improvement actions
  • Plan and execute annual analyst competence assessments
  • Create the awareness and stimulate need for HSE/QS in third party laboratories
  • Facilitate internal and external HSE and quality system audits
  • Facilitate monthly HSE & Quality System review meeting and report performance
  • Develop and implement HSE induction for new joiners and visitors to the lab
  • Provide stand-in for laboratory supervisor as required

Job Qualifications & Skills / Selection Criteria

 Position Qualification/Experience:
 

  • Minimum of University degree in Chemistry or Chemical engineering
  • Minimum 5 years broad experience in an E&P laboratory environment / in industry
  • Knowledge in operational lab HSE, QMS (ISO9001/17025) and data management
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (French/English)
  • Skill in Quality and HSE Management Systems
  • Skill in at least one of Production Chemistry specialist areas i.e. Drilling fluids/cementing, Flow Assurance, Geochemistry, Analytical Chemistry etc.
  • Knowledgeble in Environmental policies and regulations
  • Awareness of Contract Management
