Location : Luanda (Angola) - Expatriation Status

Job purpose:

Manages the Subsea engineering team in Technip Angola, through a multi-discipline engineering department in order to ensure the adequate engineering competencies within Subsea project(s) &/or operations, the implementation of Technip engineering design & manufacturing standards, procedures & processes, and the respect for quality standards, targets and customers satisfaction.

Proactively provides guidance and ensures Transfer knowledge and local staff development.

Reporting lines and interactions:

Functionally reports to: GM of Technip Angola

Operationally reports to: head of Engineering Region A

Directly supervises (operationally): Subsea Engineering team in Angola

Key interactions (internally, externally): Project Manager, Country Management Team, possibly clients & third parties at management level.

Job scope (budget, management, specific criteria): dimensions of the job

Management : in charge of a team of 35 people

A strong focus is required on the knowledge transfer and training of the local team

Duties and Responsibilities

Main accountabilities:

Leads technological watch in the industry at regional level and contributes to the definition of the subsea engineering strategy by communicating with his/her peers as well as corporate subsea.

  • Contributes towards the objectives of the entity (annual, 3-year plan…) and proposes development plans and long-term vision and orientation of the Division /Department.
  • Coordinate the recruitment and the training of local engineers and designers. Identify the most skilled people within the team and gradually organize a transfer of responsibilities to local staff.
  • Proposes and takes all necessary actions in order to proactively answer the clients, business and project needs and continuously upgrade the capability of the entity (recruitment, selection).
  • Promotes a HSE, customer satisfaction and quality culture.
  • Guarantees the accuracy, technical and integrity and growth of disciplines under responsibility.
  • Guarantees availability of up-to-date knowledge, services & tools, such as software, methods, and reference documentation through consolidation of know-how, experiences, best-practices, dissemination actions and peer review sessions.
  • Ensures discipline expertise across disciplines and liaises with other departments and third parties.
  • May promote the technical and technological reputation and expertise of the engineering center towards clients and on the market.

Ensure an effective and continuous communication with other subsea operating engineering centers for projects realized jointly by several entities

Job Qualifications & Skills / Selection Criteria


Engineering Degree (M.Sc. or equivalent)

Good verbal and written English

A strong appetite for Knowledge Transfer and people development

Minimum 8 years of experience in Subsea Engineering

Nice to have: Portuguese

Experience in a multicultural environment
