The purpose of the Offshore HSE Advisor (trainee) is to provide a growth role to develop HSE support and for the offshore Drilling team and Rig Contractor regarding all HSE matters.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively complete all learning directives and tasks as outlined in training syllabus and as directed by the Sr. Offshore HSE advisor and Drilling Supervisor.
  • Become a subject matter expert with contractor Safety Management Systems, MOA Safety Management Systems, bridging documents, and industry standards and Bes practices.
  • Assist, monitor and encourage compliance with MOA and Contractor Policies and Procedures
  • Participate in all Incident Investigation and Reporting matters
  • Assist in providing HSE support and coaching for all offshore personnel
  • Learn and administer MOA HSE reporting, recording and administration

Job Qualifications & Skills / Selection Criteria


  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
  • Fluent in English both written and spoken.
  • Valid medical exam certificate in accordance with UKOOA.
  • Ideally valid (T) BOSIET Certificate.
  • Ideally valid offshore fire fighting team member
  • Valid National Passport and able to obtain appropriate visa(s) 
  • Competent in the use of computer word processing and spread sheet program software (Microsoft office programs)
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to establish good working relationships
  • Preferable to have Advanced First Aid Training.


  • Ideally 5 years’ experience in offshore HSE drilling operations, specifically acting as an on board safety officer or alternatively previous oil and gas experience or experience in an industrial or process environment, additional consideration would be given to candidates with offshore experience or other work experience that is directly relevant or demonstrates a motivated and disciplined character such as military experience. 

Candidates must hold Angolan Nationality.
