Duties and Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to provide general HR support for DAMCO South Africa. The role includes recruitment and selection of new staff, career movement and development of current employees, and the utilisation and update of all employee systems relevant to the function. Essentially, the role will give support to both management and staff by representing HR as a business partner.


External Recruitment, Selection and Appointment:

  • Recruitment and Selection best practice and APMM & DAMCO Logistics (Pty) world class Human Resource standards implemented
  • Correct appointment processes and procedures implemented
  • Advising to management on recruitment, selection and appointment processes and procedures
  • Talent pool developed 

Internal Promotions and/or Transfers:

  • Full process implemented and compliance to local guidelines
  • Ensure moves represent departmental manpower and succession planning

Management of the Establishment procedure:

  • Establishment procedure followed and documentation done timeously

HR Administration and reporting:

  • Ensure all employment documentation is completed for all successful appointments, both internal and external
  • Payment of accounts for placements and/or advertisements in the media
  • The recruitment agency vendor list and agency accreditation process managed
  • Monthly HR reports provided
  • Section 189 knowledge and administration thereof

Management of the Induction process:

  • Ensure all new staff receive an Induction pack on commencement of service
  • Ensure management follow through with the induction of new staff in their departments, and all new staff attend an induction session

Performance Management:

  • Assist and advise management on performance management process
  • In consultation with management assist and follow up on performance coaching and counselling sessions
  • Assist and advise management and staff on disciplinary / grievance procedure

Job Qualifications & Skills / Selection Criteria

Who we are looking forTECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:-

  • HR tertiary qualification coupled with significant HR experience is recommended 
  • SAP HR experience required
