Under the supervision of the FAO Representative in Zambia, and in collaboration with the Decent Rural Employment Team (DRET)
in FAO HQ, the incumbent will support and monitor the development and implementation of the UN Joint Programme (UNJP)
“Decent jobs for youth and improved food security through the development of sustainable rural enterprises in Zambia”. In particular, the incumbent will:
Contribute to the overall coordination support to the UNJP while ensuring effective communication with FAOR Zambia, FAO
HQ and country stakeholders.
Coordinate the formulation of the UNJP detailed Work Plan, consistent with the provisions of the project document, including the development of a monitoring system to record project implementation and results.
Encourage and monitor the implementation of the UNJP detailed Work Plan, sustain interactions with and provide support to relevant stakeholders on joint activities to ensure that obligations of all Implementing Partners (IPs) are met, as set up in the detailed Work Plan.
Prepare regular project updates and budget reports; and coordinate the monitoring and analysis of the project’s results-based outputs against planned deliverables in the monitoring system.
Monitor and analyse the project risks initially identified, and identify alternative actions if required.
Compile background documents for the FAO country office and FAO HQ to support interaction with other FAO Divisions, UN agencies in the country and donors.
Contribute to the analytical design of conceptual approaches promoting youth employment in agriculture, as well as policy briefs, publications, news items and other advocacy materials.
Perform other duties as required.
Candidates should meet the following:
Advanced university degree in agronomy, agro-economy, development economics, rural and agricultural development or relevant related field.
Five years of relevant experience in project formulation, appraisal, implementation and/or monitoring of which at least 2 years in work planning in rural development / rural employment.
Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian).
