The Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice) is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fill the position of Post‐Doctoral Fellow in Abiotic Stress. The incumbent will be based will be based at AfricaRice, Ibadan.
About AfricaRice
AfricaRice is one of the 15 international agricultural research Centers that are members of the CGIAR Consortium. It is also an autonomous intergovernmental association of African member countries.
Responsibilities
The post‐Doctoral fellow will be a part of a multi‐disciplinary research team of AfricaRice.
S/he reports to the Lowland Rice Breeder under the Genetic Diversity and Improvement Program. S/he will undertake the following activities which are not limitative:
Education:
PhD in genetics, breeding or related fields
Work Experience:
Substantive field experience in agricultural research in a developing country; experience in abiotic stress research in cereals; experience in molecular marker technology; experience in Africa would be an asset
Key Competencies Required:
Practical knowledge of rice production ecologies in Africa and the challenges confronting farmers in the region; familiarity with molecular approaches involving DNA, marker, QTL technologies; ability to work in a multicultural setting
Language
The candidate should communicate fluently (orally and in writing) in English with a good working knowledge of French.
