SNV Mozambique is looking for a:

Sector Leader Renewable Energy

Based in Maputo, Mozambique

(International contract)

SNV Mozambique started its Renewable Energy programme in 2011 with a scoping study. Improved cookstoves and off-grid solar solutions were identified as options. In 2013 SNV started the Mozambique Improved Cooking Solutions (MICSI) project with ENDEV financing for 4 years. The aim is to sell 40.000 improved charcoal cookstoves in urban Maputo for low income households. With funding from SNV we started to experiment with alternative fuels for cooking such as LPG in smaller bottles for the BOP and charpowder briquettes made from coconut husks. The next steps in our programme are developing projects for these pilots, upscaling our programme to other urban areas, pilot rural firewood ICS and pilot solar lighting retail & distribution systems. Our approaches are market based solutions through developing Inclusive Business models with a variety of companies.
